Statement
"Our existence as both physical and spiritual beings manifests through the experience of our bodies. We understand the meaning of our surroundings from an internal viewpoint. Our internal emotions communicate physical reactions. It is through the physical body- muscle memory, touch, a stomach pain, a gesture- that we come to know who we are and how we function in our environment.

I have been exploring the body as a witness to life's experiences for the past thirty years. Internal emotions realize physical responces through the tensing and relaxation of muscles. All internal states: power, strength, vulnerability, fear, resignation, hope and intimacy are reflected in the body's physical form. It is our instinctive familiarity with the body that makes us sensitive to its every inflection. Our bodies react to an alteration in form before our minds begin to make sense of physical events we observe. I am interested in this gap between reaction and observation." - Christin Nelson
